MS Word inport to DOORs controls

Hi all,

Using the standard Word import macro results in every line assigned a unique ID which makes the traceability messy (i.e. the DXL only pulls in the text from the linked ID, the rest of the text in following sentences remains orphaned.

Is there a way of importing blocks of text to an ID (without manual cut and paste)?

All my test reports are written in huge Word documents and I just want to link to the protocols and outcomes in those documents but end up importing the whole document (including equipment, setup etc).

It would help me to understanding in more general terms how folks are using the import function? All the teams work in Word and I cant see a good way of linking the content they provide back up to the requirements in DOORs without a load of manual entry or repeated import and relinking...

Thanks.

Mark.

In word, use manual line break instead of paragraph marks to separate your sentence you want grouped into single 'Object Text' object.

Yes. DOORS creates a new object for each paragraph which are separated by an EOL or'enter' key (except table cells). You can use manual line feeds LFs 'shft-enter', in MS-Word to keep them together when imported. These manual LFs are translated to EOLs after import, in DOORS.

Its helpful in Word to view all formattting marks, View menu >>Options >>View tab >>selec 'all' in the middle.

Its also helpful to find all the EOLs, which is "^p" in the find box, and consider replacing each one with an LF, a "^l" in the replace box.
